چکیده

Lake area, water level, and storage changes of terminal lakes are vital for regional resource management understanding local hydrological processes. Nevertheless, due to the complex geographical conditions, it is difficult investigate analyze this change in ungauged regions. This study focuses on ungauged, semi-arid Gahai Lake, a typical small lake Qaidam Basin. In addition scant observed data, satellite altimetry scarce excessively large fraction outlier points. Here, we proposed an effective simple algorithm extracting available elevation points from CryoSat-2, ICESat-2 Sentinel-3. Combining with area data Landsat, Gaofen (GF), Ziyuan (ZY) satellites, built optimal hypsographic curve (lake versus level) based existing short-term data. Cross-validation was used validate whether accurately could predict level other periods. addition, multisource high-resolution images including Landsat digital maps extract 1975 2020, applied estimate corresponding period. Additionally, adopted pyramidal frustum model (PFM) integral (IM) long-term changes, analyzed differences between these two models. We found that there has been obvious since beginning 21st century, which reflects impact climate human activities hydrologic processes basin. Importantly, agricultural have caused rapid increase over past decade. collected as much possible; thus, estimated variations combining multiple models, can provide method monitor basins.

A Preliminary Analysis of Lake Level and Water Storage Changes over Lakes Baikal and Balkhash from Satellite Altimetry and Gravimetry

Lakes Baikal and Balkhash are two of the world’s major lakes affecting fresh water supplies in their catchments. Measurements from satellite altimetry (TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1 and -2), satellite gravimetry (GRACE) and a hydrological model (LDAS) are used to see the relationship between lake level change (LLC) and water storage change in these two lakes. At Lake Baikal, the average rate of LLC i...

A multi-source satellite data approach for modelling Lake Turkana water level: calibration and validation using satellite altimetry data

Lake Turkana is one of the largest desert lakes in the world and is characterized by high degrees of interand intra-annual fluctuations. The hydrology and water balance of this lake have not been well understood due to its remote location and unavailability of reliable ground truth datasets. Managing surface water resources is a great challenge in areas where in-situ data are either limited or ...

Modeling Lake Urmia Water-Level Changes using Local Linear Neuro-Fuzzy Method

According to the water resources and climate change and challenges of Urmia Lake basin, which is the discharge and final destination of North West Rivers, a model was presented. Due to climate change and water resources in river basin such as rainfall, climate change in basin that has direct impact on evaporation over water catchment areas and lake water, this model can be provided. In addition...

Estimation and Analysis of Precipitable Water Vapor Using GPS Data and Satellite Altimeter

Determination of water vapor in the atmosphere plays an important role in forecasting weather conditions and precipitation studies. For this reason, it is very important to study the tropospheric delay, especially the wet component, which is due to the presence of water vapor in the atmosphere. In this paper, the amount of water vapor was estimated by altimeter satellite radiometer and GPS data...

Accurate Linking of Lake Erie Water Level with Shoreline Datum Using GPS Buoy and Satellite Altimetry

There is a need to accurately link the water level to the shoreline vertical datum for various applications including coastal management, lake/river/estuary/wetland hydrological or storm surge modeling/forecasting. Coastal topography is historically surveyed and referenced to the predetermined vertical datum in terms of orthometric heights, or the heights above the geoid, which is poorly known ...
